Cystic fibrosis or CF for short, is a genetic disease. Meaning it’s not contagious. It happens when both parents are a carrier or the CF gene. It causes thick sticky mucus to accumulate mainly in your lungs and pancreas, but also affects other parts of your body as well. People with cf have to do many treatments and take lots of medication. Sometimes it can lead to hospitalization, which is when you go in for IV antibiotics to help fight a CF excsatrabation.
